The Renaissance, spanning roughly the 14th through to the 17th century, was a fervent period of European cultural, artistic, political and economic “rebirth” following the Middle Ages. It began in Italy then spread through Europe and was characterised by the rediscovery of classical philosophy, the rise of humanism and revolutionary advancements in science, art, and global exploration. At each meeting we have two presentations. We may hear about a person, a family, a building, a painting, a statue, an object, an event, an invention.
